The Ekiti State Security Network, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has made a significant arrest following a deeply disturbing incident in Are Ekiti. A 20-year-old man, Dare Omoyajowo, is now in custody for the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl who is both deaf and dumb.
Mother's Report Leads to Swift Arrest
The case came to light after the victim's mother bravely reported the assault to the local Amotekun office. According to a statement released on Monday, December 29, 2025, by the Corps' Head of Communications, Adeleye Adewale, the incident occurred on Friday in the Are Ekiti community.
The mother detailed her daughter's horrific ordeal. The young girl returned home with clear physical evidence of the attack, her body stained with seminal fluid. Unable to communicate verbally, the traumatized victim narrated the entire incident to her mother using sign language, explaining how she was mercilessly assaulted.
Suspect's Confession and Modus Operandi
Acting swiftly on the report, operatives from the Amotekun Corps in the area located and apprehended the suspect, Dare Omoyajowo. During interrogation by officers from the Ifedara Local Council Development Area in Are-Ekiti, Omoyajowo reportedly confessed to committing the crime.
He disclosed that he lured the vulnerable teenager into his own apartment. Exploiting her condition, he used body language and gesticulations to communicate with her before carrying out the rape. This premeditated act highlights the predator's exploitation of the victim's disability.
Case Handed Over for Further Action
Following the arrest and preliminary investigation, the Amotekun Corps has transferred the suspect to the custody of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Ekiti State Police Command in Ado Ekiti. This procedural step is standard for such serious crimes to allow for a comprehensive police investigation and subsequent legal prosecution.
The swift action by the victim's mother and the rapid response of the Amotekun Corps have been crucial in ensuring the suspect faces the law. This case has sent shockwaves through the Are Ekiti community and underscores the urgent need for continued vigilance and protection for society's most vulnerable members, particularly children and persons with disabilities.
