The Bauchi State Police Command has taken into custody a 20-year-old man, Bilal Ya'u, for the alleged brutal s3xual assault of his neighbour's six-year-old daughter in Alkaleri Local Government Area. This disturbing incident, reported on Saturday, January 10, 2026, reveals a pattern of abuse against the same minor.
Father's Report Leads to Swift Arrest
According to the police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, the case came to light when the 45-year-old father of the victim filed an official report at the Alkaleri Divisional Police headquarters. He stated that on January 5, 2026, his young daughter was lured by the suspect, their neighbour, into an uncompleted building where she was forcefully violated.
Upon receiving the report, a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Alkaleri, CSP Kadiri Danjuma, swiftly moved to the scene. The victim was immediately evacuated to the General Hospital in Alkaleri for urgent medical examination and necessary treatment.
Suspect's Chilling Confession and Past Offence
During interrogation, Bilal Ya'u confessed to the crime, admitting to having s3xually assaulted the child. His confession included the harrowing detail that the assault was perpetrated through both vaginal and anal penetration, constituting sodomy.
Further investigation by the police uncovered an even more alarming history. It was revealed that the suspect had previously r@ped the same minor in 2024 during the rainy season. Following that initial assault, the child's mother had warned him to stay away from her daughter, a warning that tragically went unheeded.
Ongoing Investigation and Path to Justice
The Bauchi State Police Command has assured the public that a thorough investigation is ongoing. The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation, facing the full weight of the law for his alleged actions.
This case has sent shockwaves through the Alkaleri community, highlighting the urgent and continuous need for vigilance in protecting children from predators, even those who may live in close proximity. It also underscores the critical importance of reporting such heinous crimes to law enforcement agencies promptly to ensure swift action.
