An operative of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has been confirmed dead following a violent clash with a group of tipper drivers in Chokocho-Etche, Rivers State. According to police sources, the tragedy unfolded at approximately 2:45 p.m. while the NSCDC team, attached to the South-South Mining Marshals, was conducting a routine patrol in Chokocho-Etche. During the patrol, the security personnel encountered a hostile group of tipper drivers, leading to a sudden and violent attack.
The officer, identified as ASC II Kalu Samuel Ali, sustained a gunshot wound to the head during the assault. He was immediately rushed to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) for emergency medical attention. Despite efforts by medical staff, he was later pronounced dead at the hospital, marking a somber loss for the NSCDC and the security community.

In response to the attack, security personnel on the scene returned fire, resulting in injuries to one of the tipper drivers. The injured individual is currently receiving treatment at a separate medical facility, with authorities monitoring his condition as part of the ongoing investigation.
