The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended two individuals in the Atiba area of Ijebu-Ode, connecting them to a kidnapping and murder incident that occurred in the Okada region of Edo State. The arrests were made following intelligence-driven operations by the command's Anti-Kidnapping Unit, building upon earlier efforts by the Nigeria Forest Security Service.
Suspects Identified
The suspects have been identified as Gafaru Adamu, aged 25, and Muhammed Sanni, aged 20. Preliminary investigations indicate that they are wanted in connection with a kidnapping and murder case involving two hostages in Edo State. Intelligence suggests that they may be part of a seven-man syndicate responsible for the crime.
Recovered Items
During the operation, law enforcement officers recovered a pair of police camouflage uniforms and three mobile phones from the suspects. These items have been documented and retained as exhibits to support ongoing investigations.
Transfer to Edo State
Since the alleged offenses occurred outside Ogun State, the suspects and recovered exhibits will be transferred to the Edo State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution, in accordance with inter-state policing procedures.
Commissioner's Statement
Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their coordinated and intelligence-driven operation. He noted that the arrests demonstrate the command's commitment to tackling criminal networks that operate across state lines. He reaffirmed that the Ogun Police Command will continue to strengthen intelligence gathering and inter-agency collaboration to prevent criminals from using the state as a safe haven or transit route.
The command also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies, emphasizing that such cooperation is vital in the fight against kidnapping and violent crime.
