Police Arrest Kidnapping Suspect in Yola, Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the alleged abduction of three children in Yola North Local Government Area of the state.

Incident Details

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, it was disclosed that one Samaila Musa reported the disappearance of his three children. The abductors later established contact with the family, demanding a ransom.

The statement reads: “On June 16th, 2026, one Samaila Musa, male, of Hullere Gwalamba, Yola North local government area, reported at the State Intelligence Department that on 12th June, 2026, three of his sons, namely: Adamu Samaila Sultan, aged 24 years, Bilal Abdurrahman, aged 8 years, and Ya’u Sani Baba Iyali, aged 10 years, were kidnapped and whisked away to an unknown destination.

“The complainant further reported that the kidnappers later established contact with the family and demanded ransom as a condition for the release of the victims,” the statement added.

Police Response

The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Kabir Hassan, directed operatives of the command to launch a full-scale investigation and deploy intelligence and technical resources to track down the perpetrators.

He noted that the suspect was in protective custody and was providing useful information to assist the police in apprehending other members of the crime syndicate operating in the state.

Nguroje added that investigations are still ongoing, and the suspect would be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
