The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has rescued the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, in Oyo State. The police operatives neutralized two suspected kidnappers in a gunfight and recovered firearms during the late-night rescue operation, which took place around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Details of the Abduction
The victims were abducted around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, while on their way to the children's school. According to police sources, sustained intelligence tracking and tactical pressure forced the kidnappers into a confrontation with operatives, leading to the successful rescue of the victims. Security operatives are currently combing nearby areas for fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate, some of whom are believed to have escaped with gunshot wounds.
Contrast with Other Kidnapping Cases
The quick operation stands in contrast to the plight of over 30 schoolchildren and teachers who have been held since mid-May raids in Oyo State's Oriire Local Government Area (LGA). In those incidents, bandits killed a teacher, beheaded another on video, and are demanding a massive ransom plus the enforcement of Sharia law. Public replies express skepticism about the rescue details and highlight perceived inequality, with X users criticizing faster action for connected families while school victims remain captive after weeks.
