Reality television personality Chad Ollinger, known for appearing on the Discovery Channel show "Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch," is battling a murder charge after allegedly killing his cellmate at the Clark County Detention Center in December 2025. Court documents obtained by TMZ reveal that Ollinger's legal team is seeking dismissal of the case, citing violations of his due process rights.
Legal Arguments and Due Process Claims
Ollinger's attorneys argue that the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH) failed to provide a bed for restorative treatment within seven days of a court order issued on January 29, 2026. The filing states that Ollinger has been incarcerated for 205 days awaiting treatment, with a 112-day delay that his lawyers claim violates his constitutional rights. They assert that the delay has hindered his ability to meet with legal counsel and has led to deterioration in his mental and physical health.
Prosecution's Response
Prosecutors have pushed back, denying any rights violations and requesting that Ollinger undergo a reexamination before being transferred to a DPBH facility. They describe him as "far too violent and dangerous" for standard restorative treatment, noting that he is accused of smashing his cellmate's head into a metal bed frame and strangling him to death. The government argues that the severity of the crime outweighs any prejudice caused by the delay, and that Ollinger cannot be trusted outside jail.
Background of the Case
Ollinger's legal troubles began with an arrest in November 2024, followed by a jail booking in February 2025 for an unrelated case. He was reported missing by his family in July 2025 but was found shortly after. His father, Duane Ollinger, who operated the Blind Frog Ranch, recently died after battling ALS and pneumonia. A hearing for the murder case is scheduled for June.
