Six private security guards have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service following a shooting incident that left former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, injured. The incident occurred at a private residence in Kwabenya, Accra, on Sunday, June 21, 2026.

Details of the Incident

According to the Ghanaian Times, the shooting happened at the residence of Mr. Tamakloe Safo Jehoshaphat, also known as Akofena, where a ceremony was taking place. Preliminary reports indicate that Adwoa Safo arrived at the house and attempted to gain access but was refused entry. Tensions escalated, and armed private security personnel at the residence allegedly opened fire during the confrontation.

The former MP sustained injuries from the shooting, and her vehicle was struck by multiple bullets. Police officers from the National Operations Directorate and the Intelligence Directorate were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call.

Arrests and Recovered Items

Six private security guards were arrested in connection with the incident. A search following the arrests led to the recovery of five pump-action guns, one Taurus pistol loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition, an additional magazine containing five rounds of 9mm ammunition, and communication equipment. The suspects and recovered items have been transferred to Police Headquarters for further investigation.

Police have confirmed that efforts are underway to track and arrest other individuals believed to be involved in the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
