Nigerian Woman Reveals Trauma of Domestic Violence and Infidelity in Marriage
Chinonso Onuoha, a Nigerian woman, has publicly disclosed the severe hardships she faced during her marriage, citing incidents of domestic violence, infidelity, and emotional abuse. In detailed Facebook posts shared on Friday, February 27, she recounted a particularly distressing episode where her ex-husband allegedly assaulted her after she requested he intervene to stop his side chick from harassing her.
Ordeal Unfolds Amidst Family Crisis
According to Chinonso, the incident occurred on a Sunday afternoon when her son was critically ill. As newcomers in Spain with limited Spanish proficiency, she found herself alone in a small town. Her ex-husband was absent, and despite her pleas for him to accompany them to a health center, he refused, claiming inability to assist.
She managed to translate her son's symptoms and visit the center solo, where a doctor prescribed medication. With pharmacies mostly closed due to the weekend, she needed help locating an open one but faced repeated refusals from her ex-husband, who suggested alternatives like calling a friend or taking a taxi.
Harassment from Side Chick Escalates Tensions
After navigating the situation independently, Chinonso received a call from a familiar number—her ex-husband's side chick. The woman launched into a tirade, boasting about his affection for her and threatening that he would abandon Chinonso. This marked the fourth such harassing call, leaving Chinonso shocked and frustrated.
She confronted the caller, expressing indifference to their relationship and demanding an end to the calls. Realizing the side chick was likely upset over her ex-husband's earlier departure, Chinonso called him home to address the issue.
Violent Outburst Following Confrontation
Upon his return, Chinonso explained the harassment and insisted he instruct the side chick to cease contact. Her ex-husband made a performative call in her presence, but she perceived it as insincere. When she reiterated her demand for no further incidents, he erupted violently.
He physically assaulted her, hurled insults, and even struck the ground while swearing an oath to marry the side chick or face death. Chinonso questioned why he hadn't married the woman earlier, given their prior cohabitation, which only intensified the beating. She described how this moment fundamentally altered her perspective, leading her to remain silent about future infidelities.
