A tragic domestic dispute in Kogi State has culminated in alleged murder and a frantic manhunt. Favour Odoba is currently on the run after being accused of killing her husband, Momo Jimoh Jamiu, also known as Abdul-Kadir Nagazi.
A Marriage Strained by Childlessness
The incident, which has shocked the Okene community, is rooted in a marriage that lasted approximately nine years. According to sources familiar with the couple, their union remained without a child throughout this period. This prolonged childlessness reportedly led the husband to take a second wife, a decision that set the stage for the ensuing tragedy.
Tensions are said to have escalated significantly about two months ago, when the second wife successfully gave birth. This event appears to have been a catalyst in the deteriorating relationship between Jamiu and his first wife, Favour Odoba.
The Fatal Invitation and Hospital Dumping
Details emerging from the investigation, as narrated by a relative of the deceased identified as Onono, paint a chilling picture. It is alleged that Favour Odoba invited her husband to spend a night with her. After this visit, she reportedly returned his lifeless body to a hospital facility before fleeing the scene.
Medical personnel who examined the body raised immediate suspicions. Preliminary tests suggested the possible involvement of food poisoning or injections containing harmful substances. This has led investigators to consider poisoning as a likely cause of death, though official confirmation is pending.

The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the incident and is actively working to unravel the circumstances. The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP William Aya, stated that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the precise cause of Jamiu's death.
In a statement, CSP Aya emphasized, "Investigation is ongoing to determine the actual cause of death and the circumstances surrounding it. The woman, said to be the wife of the deceased, is currently on the run. Efforts are being intensified to arrest her to assist with the investigation."
The case highlights a grim pattern of domestic violence escalating to fatal extremes. It recalls other recent incidents across Nigeria, such as the case in Abeokuta where a wife stabbed her husband over infidelity allegations, and the arrest of Fatima Dzuma in Niger State for allegedly killing her husband with a pestle.
