Suspected bandits have abducted six individuals during a late-night attack on Unguwan Dutse in Wasagu Town, located in the Wasagu District of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area in Kebbi State. The incident occurred on June 5, 2026, at approximately 0040 hours, according to security sources.

Attack Details

The assailants, armed with sophisticated weapons, reportedly entered the community from a nearby forest believed to extend into the Zamfara axis. They whisked away six residents, including Lawal Jabir (34), Ubaida Jabir (3), Fatima Jabir (27), Mardiyya Fahad (28), and her two children.

Response and Search Operations

Following a distress alert at about 0340 hours, a joint team comprising police tactical units, military personnel, and local vigilantes was immediately mobilized to the scene. However, the attackers had already fled with their victims before the arrival of security operatives. Coordinated search and rescue operations have since been intensified across surrounding forests and escape routes to rescue the victims unharmed and apprehend the perpetrators.

Authorities have confirmed that efforts are ongoing, and additional patrols have been deployed to strengthen security presence in the area. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements to security agencies.

Victim's Pre-Kidnapping Plea

Notably, one of the abducted victims, Lawal Jabir, had publicly called on the state government to address the worsening insecurity in the area just hours before his kidnapping. He wrote: "Kebbi state government should continue to stop the terrorism in Wasagu villages; if it goes like that, it is difficult for these people to vote for APC."
