Ebonyi Lifts Curfew in Amasiri, Retains Security

The Ebonyi State Security Council has announced the complete lifting of the curfew imposed on Amasiri community in Afoikpo Local Government Area, following a crisis that resulted in loss of lives.

Security Council Decision

Mrs. Eneh Yetunde Kolawale, the Ebonyi State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), disclosed this while addressing journalists on behalf of the council at the Government House in Abakaliki. She stated that the decision was reached after thorough deliberations, noting that the security situation had improved sufficiently to warrant the removal of the restriction.

“We reviewed the situation in Amasiri and resolved that the curfew be lifted completely,” she said.

Ongoing Security Measures

However, Kolawale emphasized that security agencies would maintain a strategic presence in the community to sustain peace and prevent any relapse into violence. She also warned that individuals involved in criminal activities during the crisis would still be tracked and brought to justice.

The state government urges residents to cooperate with security personnel and report any suspicious activities to ensure lasting peace in the area.
