Fintiri Visits Adamawa Attack Victims, Nine Dead

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has paid a condolence visit to victims of a Boko Haram attack in Mayo Ladde community, Hong Local Council, following the assault on Wednesday night. The attack left nine people dead and several others displaced.

Governor Condemns Attack, Assures Security

During the visit, Fintiri expressed deep sadness over the incident. He addressed displaced residents taking refuge in a neighbouring village in Kuva Gaya, describing the attack as unfortunate. He reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining peace across the state.

The governor commended the military for its efforts in combating insurgency in affected parts of the state. He assured continued support for security agencies and local vigilante groups to sustain peace and enable residents to carry out their daily activities.

Local Officials Confirm Casualties

The Chairman of Hong Local Council, Inuwa Usman Wa’aganda, confirmed that nine people were killed before security personnel intervened. The attack has heightened fears among residents, but security forces have been deployed to prevent further incidents.

Traditional Ruler Praises Governor

The Paramount Ruler, Tol Huba, Alheri Bulus Nyako, commended the governor for identifying with the community. He described Fintiri as a leader committed to the welfare of his people. Nyako urged the government to continue supporting the affected communities.

Lawmakers Call for More Forest Guards

The Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Bathiya Wesley, and the member representing Kuva Gaya Constituency, Adum John Alaba, sympathised with the victims. They urged continued public support for the state government’s efforts. They also called for the recruitment of more forest guards to complement the work of security agencies in addressing persistent insecurity.

The attack underscores the ongoing security challenges in parts of Adamawa State. The government has vowed to intensify efforts to protect citizens and restore normalcy.
