Rosemary Chukwuma Shines in Women's 100m Heats

In the women's 100m heats, Rosemary Chukwuma made a bright start to her quest for her first African Senior Athletics Championships title. She dominated the women's 100m heats on the opening day of competition. Chukwuma, one of the few U.S.-based athletes who managed to travel to Accra, Ghana, established herself as the woman to beat in the event.

“I feel so excited being here to compete. For me, it is just go out there and execute and have fun. I'm happy all three Nigerian women made it to the semis,” said Chukwuma after the race. Two other Nigerian women, Tejiri Ugoh and Miracle Ezechukwu, also won their heats and advanced to the semi-finals. Officials are optimistic about a clean sweep of medals in the final.
