Super Eagles forward, Samuel Chukwueze, has opened up about his challenging stint at Italian giants AC Milan, stating he was not afforded sufficient time to prove his worth at the San Siro.
A New Lease of Life in London
The 26-year-old Nigerian international secured a season-long loan move to Premier League side Fulham in the summer of 2025, seeking regular playing time after a difficult period in Italy. Chukwueze originally joined AC Milan from Spanish club Villarreal three years ago but struggled to consistently make his mark on the team.
Since his switch to Craven Cottage, the winger's fortunes have transformed dramatically. In just nine league appearances for Fulham, Chukwueze has scored twice and provided four assists, demonstrating the form that once made him a standout player at Villarreal.
Reflecting on the Milan Struggle
In a candid interview quoted by Milanista, Chukwueze reflected on his time with the Rossoneri. "I don’t think I was given the time or the opportunities I needed," he admitted. "But that’s football. I just have to keep working."
The footballer went on to compare the styles of play, suggesting the Premier League is a better fit for his abilities. "English football probably suits my style better than Italian tactics," Chukwueze stated, hinting at a possible long-term future in England.
An Unbroken Bond with Milan
Despite his admission about lacking opportunities, Chukwueze was quick to affirm his ongoing connection with AC Milan, where he remains under contract. "I miss Milan," he confessed. "It’s my second home. My family are still there, so of course I miss the city."
He extended his well-wishes to the club, acknowledging his formal status. "They are doing well and I wish them all the best, I’m still a Milan player, after all, because I’m only on loan."
Looking ahead, the Super Eagles star kept his options open regarding his next permanent move. "Maybe one day I’ll return to Serie A, or La Liga, or stay in the Premier League," Chukwueze mused, focusing for now on maintaining his impressive form with Fulham.
