Former Besiktas midfielder Sinan Engin has ignited a heated debate in Turkish football after suggesting that Galatasaray should consider selling star striker Victor Osimhen if a substantial offer arrives this summer. Engin, speaking on the Asist Analiz YouTube channel, pointed to potential interest from elite clubs such as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, arguing that bids around €120 million would be too significant to reject.
Behavioral Concerns Raised
Engin did not limit his comments to financial considerations. He also raised concerns about Osimhen's on-field demeanor, claiming that the Nigerian international's attitude has shifted since joining Galatasaray. According to Engin, teammates are now overly focused on feeding Osimhen, even when better options are available, because they fear his reaction.
"When Yunus gets the ball, he tries to play it to Osimhen because Osimhen gets angry. Sometimes there are better options available, but players still force the pass to him. That becomes a problem," Engin explained. He added that a serious conversation with the striker is necessary to address these behavioral patterns.
Record-Breaking Performance
Despite the criticism, Osimhen's statistics remain outstanding. The 27-year-old has been a key figure in Galatasaray's recent dominance, breaking multiple club records. He became the fastest player in the club's history to reach 50 goals, surpassing legendary striker Mauro Icardi. Additionally, he broke Mario Jardel's long-standing record by scoring over 35 goals in a single season across all competitions.
In the 2025/26 campaign alone, Osimhen has registered 22 goals and 8 assists, as reported by Transfermarkt. His influence was most evident when he scored a decisive brace against Antalyaspor to secure Galatasaray's 26th league title and fourth consecutive championship. He also made history as the first foreign player to score a brace in a Turkish Cup final.
Suspension for Final League Match
In other news, Osimhen will miss Galatasaray's final league match of the season against Kasimpasa after receiving a yellow card during the clash against Antalyaspor. The booking was his fifth of the Süper Lig campaign, triggering a one-match suspension under league rules.
