Babcock Student Wanted UNILAG Medicine, Graduates as Doctor

Mistura Olaifa, a Nigerian lady who initially aspired to study medicine at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), has graduated as a doctor from Babcock University. She shared her inspiring academic journey on TikTok under the handle @just_missyy, detailing how she overcame obstacles to achieve her dream.

From UNILAG Rejection to Babcock Admission

Olaifa recounted that after finishing secondary school in 2018, she hoped to attend UNILAG for medicine but ended up staying home for a year. She revealed that she never even knew she had been offered admission to UNILAG, as her parents likely rejected it on her behalf. Encouraged by friends already at Babcock University, she decided to write JAMB again and secured admission to study Physiology at Babcock.

Transferring to Medicine with a 4.8 CGPA

Upon entering Babcock, Olaifa was told she could transfer to medicine if her grades were excellent. She worked hard and successfully crossed over to Medicine and Surgery with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.8. However, this transfer cost her an extra year, as she had to repeat the 200-level in medical school due to protocol. Despite her fears and doubts, she persevered with the support of her family and friends.

Her TikTok video garnered reactions from followers, including Farizah who joked about being a doctor's medical laboratory scientist, and Mumeenah who offered prayers for her success. Yusuf urged commenters to congratulate her, acknowledging the difficulty of her achievement.
