Abaranje Community Celebrates Historic Opening of First Public Secondary School

Residents of Abaranje, a rapidly expanding metropolis within Alimosho Constituency 2, witnessed a momentous occasion on Saturday as their community officially welcomed its first-ever public secondary school. The commissioning of the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Secondary School marks a definitive end to years of educational drought in the area, providing local children with direct access to public secondary schooling for the very first time.

Legislative Achievement and Inspiration

The establishment of this educational institution is being hailed as a major legislative victory for the lawmaker representing Alimosho 2, Kehinde Joseph. During his welcome address, Joseph revealed that the inspiration for this transformative project dates back to a 2015 charge from the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

"In 2015, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, charged us to always put the people first and work tirelessly for their benefit," Joseph stated. "That message has remained with me and has fundamentally shaped my unwavering commitment to public service."

The lawmaker formally dedicated the new facility to the students of Abaranje, urging them to protect the infrastructure as a valuable collective asset for generations to come.

Government Commitment to Educational Excellence

The representative of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education in Lagos State, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, was present to reaffirm the administration's steadfast focus on the Eko Excel Programme. This initiative has revolutionized teaching methodologies across the state through specialized training and development for educators.

The Governor emphasized that the new one-storey structure was constructed without any compromise on quality, ensuring that students in Abaranje will learn in a truly world-class educational environment designed to foster academic success.

Political Recognition and Endorsement

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Dr. Mudashiru Obasa, publicly commended lawmaker Kehinde Joseph for the successful completion of the school project, stating that he fully identified with and supported this crucial initiative.

Obasa noted that effective political representation is fundamentally defined by accountability and directly addressing the most critical needs of a constituency. He remarked that by erecting such a significant educational structure, the lawmaker has performed tremendously well for his people.

"It is not just about the physical building, but about the capacity, ability, and dedication he consistently demonstrates on the floor of the House, which is truly second to none," Obasa declared.

He further urged the constituents of Alimosho to ensure Kehinde Joseph returns to the House in the next election, describing him as one of the most capable and effective hands within the entire State Assembly.

First Lady's Vision for Social Transformation

In her keynote address, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, represented by Alawiye King, praised the collaborative effort between the state government and the local representative that made this project possible. She highlighted that the school, which is built to accommodate over 700 students, serves a powerful dual purpose: promoting academic excellence and driving positive social reform.

"This project will not only provide essential education but will also help depopulate gangs and violent groups in the community, while simultaneously giving our children the opportunity to attain their fullest potentials in life," the First Lady remarked, underscoring the broader societal impact of this educational investment.
