Ray Emordi Returns to Nollywood Acting, Apologizes to Fans

Nollywood actor Ray Emordi has officially announced his return to acting, months after stepping away from the Nigerian film industry to pursue a full-time music career. In a candid video shared on his YouTube channel on July 1, 2026, Emordi revealed the reasons behind his initial exit and issued an apology to his fans, sparking excitement across social media.

Why Ray Emordi Left Nollywood

Recall that in February 2026, Emordi had stated that music, not acting, was his first love. At the time, he said he wanted to devote himself fully to building a music career after years of balancing both professions. However, in his recent video titled “Nollywood, I Am Sorry,” the actor disclosed that his departure was driven by sheer exhaustion. “I stopped acting because I was tired,” he said. Emordi revealed that he had acted in over 300 productions, including feature films, television series, and short films, spanning eight years without a single vacation. “Imagine acting from 2017 till the end of last year, about 300 productions. Eight years without vacations. If you do something too much, you naturally become exhausted,” he explained.

A Renewed Passion for Acting

According to Emordi, his break from the industry allowed him to rediscover his passion for acting. He emphasized that his return would be different, ensuring he does not overwhelm himself with an excessive workload. “My general theme for acting is not to make money but to leave a positive impact. I want to leave a positive footprint in the world before I go,” he said. He also apologized to fans for his abrupt exit and promised to manage his energy better going forward.

Welcome back.” GodspowerAmadi-h3c added, “Welcome back! Words can't express how happy I am to see you back doing what you love. We missed you so much. When you stepped away, it wasn't the same because your talent, passion, and the happiness you bring to your fans were truly missed. I want you to know that you are deeply loved and appreciated. We, your fans, are here to support you.”

Previous Controversy with Filmmaker

Legit.ng recalls that Emordi was previously called out by young filmmaker Rosy Adigwe. In a tearful video, Adigwe accused the actor of refusing to return her N700,000 after she paid him for a role, claiming he backed out four days after payment. Emordi has not publicly responded to that allegation.
