Omokri wrote: 'Dear Mr. David Adeleke, thank you for your feedback. I was rather surprised by your response to my post. Most shocking is your insult. You are an international celebrity whom Nigeria is proud of. Coming to insult me on my Instagram profile with such vulgar words should be beneath you.'
He added that he was aware Davido was upset about his appeal not to use an international platform like the FIFA World Cup to give publicity to bandits and terrorists. Omokri also noted that former Anambra Governor Peter Obi praised Davido for the gesture, which may have made the singer feel compelled to defend him.
