A coalition of civil society organizations has made a passionate appeal to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to present a credible candidate for the Kosofe Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections. The groups issued this call during a joint press conference held in Ketu, Lagos, on Tuesday, emphasizing the need for justice, transparency, and accountable governance in the selection process.
Coalition's Mandate and Position
The appeal was articulated by Comrade Alex Omotehinse, President of the Centre for Human & Socio-economic Rights (CHSR), and Comrade Waheed Odunuga of Joint Action for Good Governance (JAGG). They stated that the coalition's position is grounded in empirical evaluation and aims to safeguard democratic values, ensuring that leadership outcomes align with the aspirations of the people. According to Omotehinse, this engagement is part of the coalition's mandate to promote accountability, participatory democracy, and evidence-based civic engagement in the constituency.
Focus on Governance and Performance
Omotehinse explained that the intervention seeks to elevate public discourse and ensure that leadership selection is driven by verifiable performance, proven competence, and commitment to public service. He emphasized that the coalition conducted a comprehensive review of governance outcomes in the constituency, with particular focus on developments in Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) between 2017 and 2025 under the immediate past Executive Chairman, Mayor Dele Oshinowo.
This assessment was complemented by a stakeholders' meeting held on April 15, 2026, where aspirants seeking to represent the constituency were deliberated upon. Omotehinse noted, "Our position is based on empirical evaluation, stakeholder inputs, and verifiable governance records."

While highlighting key achievements recorded during Oshinowo's tenure, the coalition stated that he demonstrated a consistent record of service marked by innovation, accountability, and delivery. Omotehinse asserted, "An objective comparative analysis places him in a leading position among aspirants across political divides.
