The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, has commended the immediate past Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, for advancing key housing reforms prior to his resignation on April 21, 2026.
Ata Highlights Dangiwa's Achievements
In a goodwill message issued in Abuja, Ata described Dangiwa’s tenure as one marked by impactful stewardship, noting that his leadership strengthened the housing ecosystem and expanded access to affordable homes for Nigerians. He said the former minister played a critical role in advancing the government’s mandate to provide decent and affordable housing, in line with constitutional obligations and the policy direction of the current administration.
According to Ata, Dangiwa introduced strategic policies and initiatives under the Renewed Hope Agenda that addressed gaps in housing finance, land titling, and urban renewal, with a focus on low- and middle-income earners across the six geopolitical zones.
“These initiatives were designed for effective service delivery, with clear performance indicators to ensure transparency and accountability in the deployment of public resources,” he said.
Measurable Progress Under Dangiwa
Ata noted that Dangiwa’s experience and technical expertise drove measurable progress in the sector, from policy formulation to project implementation nationwide. He added that several states recorded improved turnaround times for Certificates of Occupancy and increased investor confidence in housing development corridors.
He further highlighted that Dangiwa’s background as an architect and former Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria helped align design standards with affordability targets, while deepening collaboration between the ministry and private developers through public-private partnerships.
Strengthened Coordination and Reforms
Under his leadership, the ministry also strengthened land administration reforms, enhanced collaboration with state governments through the National Council on Lands, and expanded partnerships aimed at boosting housing delivery. Ata said these efforts improved coordination between federal and subnational actors, while regular sector engagements helped build consensus on land use, building approvals, and urban renewal initiatives.
He added that Dangiwa’s calm disposition, professionalism, and focus on results set a high standard within the ministry and reinforced a culture of accountability and institutional discipline.
“On behalf of the ministry, we acknowledge Arc. Dangiwa’s service and his contribution to the growth of the housing sector. His stewardship will be remembered for its focus, discipline, and alignment with national development goals,” Ata said.

The minister expressed confidence that Dangiwa would continue to serve the nation in other capacities, while reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to sustaining and building on the reforms introduced during his tenure.
