The Federal Government has officially declared Friday, 1 May 2026, as a public holiday across the nation to celebrate the 2026 International Workers' Day. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the federal government, during a press briefing held in Abuja on Thursday.

In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Minister extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Nigerian workforce for their unwavering dedication and resilience.
