Primate Babatunde Elijah Ayodele, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church in Lagos, has issued a prophecy regarding the 2027 general elections in Nigeria. He predicts a significant wave of defections from the All Progressives Congress (APC) within the next two months, as the party faces internal turmoil. The cleric also foresees confusion within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) during its upcoming primary elections.
Mass Exodus from APC Predicted
In a statement released by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, and shared with Legit.ng, Primate Ayodele asserted that many APC members will begin leaving the ruling party before July 2026. He emphasized that the party's primary elections will expose deep-seated internal issues and trigger further defections. Despite recent high-profile defections to the APC, Ayodele insists that the coming exodus will surpass anything the party has experienced so far.
“There will be a mass exodus from APC. The defection hasn’t started yet, and in the next two months, people will start running away,” he stated.
ADC Also Faces Turbulence
The cleric also warned that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will not be spared from political upheaval. He predicted that the party's convention, which includes primary elections, will lead to widespread dissatisfaction among members, opening the door for defections.
“I see confusion even in ADC. The convention of the party coming up soon will lead to a lot of crisis and confusion. Many of its members won’t be satisfied, and this will open doors to defection from the party,” Ayodele said.
ADC Gains Ground in Edo Central
Meanwhile, the ADC has been gaining momentum in Edo Central, Edo State, as it prepares to challenge the ruling APC in the 2027 general elections. The party recently welcomed defectors from the APC, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Labour Party (LP) in the area. Led by state chairman Tony Alile and party leader Kenneth Imansuagbon, the ADC received a significant number of new members.
Alile described the defections as an organic expression of frustration with the current government. “This is an organic gathering; nobody was induced to be here. Despite initial challenges, the people stayed back. That tells you how Nigerians feel about the hardship imposed by the present government. This is the beauty of democracy and a victory for the people,” he said.
Ayodele Downplays City Boy Movement
In a previous prophecy, Primate Ayodele asserted that the North will support President Bola Tinubu's re-election in 2027. He downplayed the influence of the City Boy Movement, a pro-Tinubu group, stating that the North will play a decisive role in securing Tinubu's victory. “After God, (it's) the North,” he declared.
