A Lagos-based businessman, Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, has officially picked up his nomination and expression of interest forms to contest the 2027 governorship election in Lagos State. He intends to run under the banner of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ajose's Vision for Lagos
Ajose announced his candidacy via a statement on his X handle @Samuelajose_ on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. He emphasized that his decision to run is driven by a belief that Lagos deserves development that reaches every community. The governorship aspirant promised to create real opportunities for all residents and ensure no one is left behind.
“This moment is bigger than a political process. It is a personal commitment to purposeful leadership, inclusive governance, and the kind of progress that every Lagosian can feel and point to,” Ajose stated. “My resolve is rooted in service, anchored in a clear vision, and driven by one conviction: that Lagos deserves development which reaches every community, creates real opportunities for its people, and leaves no one behind.”
With this move, Ajose sets the stage to challenge the incumbent Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, who is widely expected to seek the APC ticket. The primary election is anticipated to be a keen contest as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
