A former Commissioner on the board of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Nuel Ola Elehinle, has officially declared his intention to contest the Owo/Ose federal constituency seat under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Elehinle, a native of Ipele in Owo Local Council Area of Ondo State, disclosed his ambition after successfully obtaining his nomination and expression of interest forms at the party's national secretariat in Abuja. Following clearance from the party leadership, the aspirant addressed journalists, outlining his vision and motivation for seeking the mandate of his constituents.
According to him, he brings to the race a combination of public service experience, private sector expertise, and grassroots political engagement that spans over a decade. He stated, "I have decided to contest this election purely out of a deep sense of service to the people of the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency. It is time to bring quality representation that addresses the real needs of our communities."
He added, "I am a registered member of the APC in Ipele Ward 7 with a long history of active participation in the party's electoral campaigns. I worked extensively for the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu during the 2012, 2016, and 2020 gubernatorial elections and later for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in the 2024 gubernatorial election in Ondo State."
Elehinle further emphasized that his priority areas would include legislative interventions in infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and equitable distribution of democratic dividends across all wards in the constituency.
Before venturing into public service and politics, Elehinle built a professional career in the industrial and mining equipment sector. He worked at Atlas Copco Nigeria and later at Epiroc Rock Drills AB, based in Sweden. The aspirant holds a degree in Mining Engineering and Mineral Resources Engineering from the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, and furthered his education with a Master of Science in Operations and Supply Chain Management from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.
