The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has officially commenced a comprehensive electronic registration and revalidation exercise for its members. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq personally launched the initiative on Monday, January 5, 2026, in Ilorin, during a stakeholders' meeting convened by the party's state leadership.
Governor Champions Inclusive Digital Process
Governor AbdulRazaq, who was recorded as the very first person to register under the new digital system, used the occasion to issue a clear directive to party officials. He emphasized that the process must be open and accessible to everyone, warning against any actions that could marginalize or discourage participation from both existing and prospective members.
"It is important that we know how many of us belong to this party," the Governor stated. "We must not exclude anyone. Those handling this exercise should register existing members and also use the opportunity to canvass for new ones." He described the APC as Nigeria's largest political party and explained that accurate, verified membership data is crucial for effective planning, mobilization, and the design of empowerment programs for members.
NIN Mandatory for Verification
A key feature of the new registration process is the requirement for a valid National Identification Number (NIN). Party organizers clarified that this mandate is designed to ensure proper verification of each individual and to eliminate duplication or ghost members from the party's register. They assured that members with incomplete or invalid NIN records would receive assistance to regularize their details during the exercise.
The state APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, addressed the gathering, which included party elders, federal and state lawmakers, and cabinet members. He stated that the meeting was called to reassure members of a transparent and fair process. "Arrangements have been made to prevent manipulation and to create an equitable platform for all members," Fagbemi said.
Linking Party Strength to Governance Achievements
Both the Governor and the party chairman connected the registration drive to the administration's performance in office. While not listing specific projects, Governor AbdulRazaq asserted that developments across various sectors had made Kwara State "more developed and viable" than when he assumed office. He encouraged party members to use these visible achievements as a tool for engaging and convincing potential new supporters.
Prince Fagbemi commended the Governor's leadership, directly linking the party's recent electoral successes in the state to what he described as tangible achievements in education, healthcare, and road infrastructure. This exercise marks the beginning of the APC's preparations in Kwara for the next phase of political mobilization ahead of future elections.
