Olagbegi Declares for House of Reps, Promises Development for Owo/Ose
Olagbegi Declares for Owo/Ose House of Reps Seat

Chief Executive Officer of FBSS Nigeria Limited, Bukunyi Olagbegi, has formally declared his intention to contest the House of Representatives seat for Owo/Ose Federal Constituency in Ondo State under the All Progressives Congress (APC), ahead of the 2027 general elections. Olagbegi stated that the decision followed extensive consultations with political stakeholders, community leaders, and young people across the constituency.

Commitment to Service

During the declaration, Olagbegi emphasized that his work over the years, whether in business or through community initiatives, has always been centered on his people. He said, "This decision is about serving this constituency in a bigger way, ensuring that we address the issues that affect us. Our communities need someone who understands the challenges we face daily and is ready to speak, listen, and push for real development where it matters."

Security as a Top Priority

In Owo and Ose communities, security remains a pressing concern. Olagbegi identified security as a paramount priority, noting that farmers and traders face constant threats, which has led many residents to limit movement after dark. He argued that no agenda regarding jobs, youth, or agriculture can succeed without first addressing instability. He plans to strengthen coordination between community institutions and state security frameworks to improve conditions for safe movement, trade, and farming.

Key Priorities

Olagbegi outlined his priorities, which include establishing clear employment pathways for young people, providing farmers with practical support for inputs and market access, and building a robust engagement structure for youth. He stressed that these initiatives depend entirely on communities feeling secure enough to participate.

Community Engagement

On April 1, 2026, Olagbegi convened the maiden edition of Owo Praise the Lord, a worship gathering held at the Methodist Primary School Field on Fajuyi Road, Owo. More than 7,000 people attended, drawn from within and outside Ondo State. Gospel ministers Yinka Ayefele, Bidemi Olaoba, Funmi Aragbaiye, Adeyinka Alaseyori, and Elijah Daniels performed, with a message delivered by cleric Wole Oladiyun. Olagbegi described the initiative as a homecoming, aimed at reconnecting Owo indigenes in Nigeria and the diaspora while honoring the town's Christian and cultural identity.

Leadership and Recognition

Olagbegi serves as the patron of the City Boy Movement in Ondo State, a platform that positions him at the intersection of urban political organizing and grassroots community engagement within the ruling party. He also serves on the board of Altheus Limited, a Nigerian company with interests in energy, human capacity development, and private equity. In 2019, the United Nations named him among the 100 Most Influential People of African Descent. He has also chaired the Central Working Committee for The Future Awards Africa and SME100 Nigeria.

Political Shift in Ondo State

In Ondo State, a generation of young professionals who spent the last decade building organizations, mobilizing communities, and earning credibility outside of formal politics is now moving directly into it. Olagbegi's declaration is one of the clearest expressions of this shift.
