A massive coalition of women from across Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area has formally endorsed the re-election bid of Stephen Ogundipe, the spokesperson for the Lagos State House of Assembly. The endorsement event took place on Thursday at the Renewed Hope Ambassadors office on Alimi Oke Street, Oshodi, Lagos.
Members from various groups, including The Renewed Hope Ambassadors, The Mandate Movement, Justice Forum, and Market Women, gathered in numbers exceeding one thousand participants. Leading the delegation was the Vice Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Hon. Modupe Badmus-Aregbe, who served as the Special Guest of Honour.
In her opening remarks, Badmus-Aregbe emphasized the importance of unity and preparedness ahead of upcoming political engagements. She stated, "This gathering is not just symbolic; it is a call to action. The challenges ahead require commitment and loyalty to our party. I urge every one of you to ensure your Permanent Voter Cards are ready. Asiwaju must return, and our own Hon. Ogundipe must also secure a second term. He remains the pride of Oshodi and has earned the trust of the people through his performance."
Speaking on behalf of the women, group leader Mrs. Faidat Bolarinwa assured party leaders of their unwavering support and readiness to mobilize at all levels. "We are battle-ready. The women of Oshodi-Isolo are fully prepared for the task ahead. Hon. Ogundipe, Omoj’omolo, has consistently demonstrated compassion and leadership through his humanitarian efforts. As we prepare to support our national leader, we are equally determined to return one of our own, someone who stands independently and represents the true interest of the people," she said.
Former Councillor Bukola Dasola Lawal highlighted Ogundipe's long-standing political involvement and track record. "Hon. Ogundipe is not new to our political terrain. His antecedents speak volumes. He has delivered on his mandate and shown capacity. A second term is not only justified but necessary for continuity and consolidation," she remarked.
Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, patron of the Women in APC Forum in Oshodi-Isolo, delivered an emphatic and reflective address on the political evolution within the local government. He reaffirmed his support for Ogundipe, stating, "I have witnessed the political journey of this local government, and I can say clearly that we will not allow imposition or manipulation. Hon. Ogundipe has shown respect, loyalty, and commitment to the progressive ideals. We will not accept a stooge in Oshodi politics. The mandate given to him must be renewed." He concluded by formally presenting Ogundipe to the women for their endorsement, drawing loud cheers and affirmations from the crowd.
Responding to the endorsement, Ogundipe expressed gratitude and reassured constituents of his continued dedication to service. "I am deeply humbled by this show of love and support. For those who claim they have not seen our impact, tell them to get glasses or borrow them one, so they can see clearly. Our work speaks across education, healthcare, welfare, employment, road infrastructure, and food support. We are not driven by noise but by results," he said.
Ogundipe further emphasized his educational background and independence in leadership. "My academic journey is verifiable. I have attended the University of Ibadan, the University of Lagos, and I am currently rounding off my PhD at Lagos State University. I refuse to be a puppet, and I will not be drawn into unnecessary personality conflicts. My focus remains service to the people," he stated.
The event also featured notable figures including Nike Adegbola, Femi Ayodele, Alhaji Kehinde Olorunoje, and Samson Agbetoye, who all showed solidarity with the women's forum and the endorsed candidate. The gathering concluded with a renewed commitment from participants to mobilize support and ensure electoral success for President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Ogundipe in the forthcoming political cycle.
