Tinubu Group Plans Outreach, Targets 185,000 Nigerians

A new political advocacy movement aimed at reshaping public perception of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been launched ahead of the 2027 general elections. The initiative, dubbed “The Presidency Project,” is being driven by the Center for the Promotion of Peace and Unity in collaboration with the Asiwaju Tinubu Ambassadors and Friends for Good Governance and Better Nigeria.

Project Launch and Objectives

Speaking in a statement made available to journalists in Taraba State, the group’s President General, Chief Dr. Lazarus Nwachukwu, described the project as a large-scale campaign designed to highlight the president’s leadership qualities and foster national unity. According to Nwachukwu, the movement is not primarily focused on securing electoral victory in 2027 but rather on showcasing what he described as the administration’s achievements and leadership capacity. He added that the initiative is expected to gain traction both within Nigeria and internationally.

Launch Event in Katsina

The launch event, according to him, took place at the All Progressives Congress State Secretariat in Katsina State, where members of the group met with party officials. Nwachukwu urged political stakeholders to prioritize peaceful conduct in the 2027 elections, warning that electoral violence could exacerbate the country’s existing challenges. He also linked Nigeria’s ongoing security issues to longstanding systemic factors, including years of underinvestment in security infrastructure, rather than policies of the current administration.

Call for National Unity

Calling for collective action, he emphasized that terrorism and insurgency are global threats requiring national unity. As part of its outreach, the group announced plans to roll out nationwide programmes, including a humanitarian initiative targeting 185,000 vulnerable Nigerians. The campaign is expected to extend to other states such as Kano State, the Federal Capital Territory, and international communities.

APC Support and Endorsement

Welcoming the initiative, the Katsina APC Chairman, Dr. Bishir Gambo Saulawa, expressed concern over what he described as misinformation about the administration. He said the movement could help present the government’s record in a more positive light. Saulawa also commended President Tinubu’s policies, particularly in foreign affairs, and pledged the party’s support. He accepted an appointment as a national patron of the movement and assured the group of continued collaboration.

The Presidency Project, as gathered by The Guardian, is expected to embark on a nationwide tour in the coming weeks as it seeks to build support and amplify its message ahead of the next election cycle.
