After Lionel Richie, the King's Trust Global Ambassador, delivered introductory remarks, King Charles took the stage. He humorously noted, 'I hesitate to make yet another speech,' following two earlier addresses that day. He emphasized that the evening was a celebration of the King's Trust and the 'enduring bond' between the UK and the US. Charles elaborated, 'Which of course is a relationship rooted in shared creativity, enterprise, and values, reminding us we are truly greater together, that's the point.'
Reflecting on the Trust's history, he said, 'It's a wonderfully proud but extraordinary moment to think it's 50 years since I started this Trust. Quite difficult to get it off the ground, but we did.' He praised the 'difference it made' over five decades by 'investing in young people' to foster 'self-confidence' and noted that it has created 'highly successful' businesses sold for millions.

The King's health condition was first detected during treatment for an enlarged prostate in 2024.
