Osinbajo Applauds Diri's Leadership and Commissions Development Projects in Bayelsa
Immediate past Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has expressed profound admiration for the developmental strides under Governor Douye Diri's administration in Bayelsa State, describing the progress as emotionally moving. During a grand reception held in his honor at Oporoma Community, the headquarters of Southern Ijaw Local Council Area, Osinbajo highlighted the people-oriented projects that have transformed the region.
Historical Bridge and Road Completion
In a statement released by Governor Diri's Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabrah, Osinbajo recalled his visit on February 19, 2022, for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Angiama-Oporoma bridge project. At that time, he admitted having doubts due to the forested terrain. However, he expressed delight that Governor Diri had proven him wrong by ensuring the completion of the 630-metre bridge and the access road to Oporoma, projects that had been stalled for over six decades.
"Based on his development strides, Diri has proven that God did not make a mistake in his choice as governor, and the people of Bayelsa are happy with him," Osinbajo stated, emphasizing the governor's commitment to fulfilling long-standing community needs.
Healthcare and Infrastructure Milestones
Osinbajo also inaugurated the Referral Hospital in Oporoma, a facility initiated 53 years ago in 1973 and completed by the Diri administration. He noted with satisfaction that the hospital is already performing surgeries, marking a significant advancement in healthcare access for the local population.
Additionally, he commissioned the Agbura-Oxbow Lake Road in Yenagoa Local Council Area, describing it as an impactful project. This road not only links communities but also reduces travel time and connects them to key Federal Government offices, including the Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board, the Central Bank of Nigeria, and the Federal Secretariat.

While commending Governor Diri, Osinbajo praised him as a man who keeps his word, a quality he described as rare in the Nigerian political landscape.
