A pro-administration group in Nigeria's southeast has publicly endorsed President Bola Tinubu's flagship policy, describing it as fundamentally designed for the benefit of the common citizen.
Food Distribution Symbolizes Government Commitment
The Southeast Renewed Hope Agenda (SERHA) made its position known on 30 December 2025 during a charity outreach in Enugu State. The group's National Coordinator for the southeast, Belusochukwu Enwerem, personally oversaw the sharing of essential food items to residents across all 17 local government areas of the state.
The distributed palliatives included garri, rice, noodles, and wrappers. Enwerem stated that the exercise resonated with themes of hope, solidarity, and a deep commitment to ensure households in Enugu State could celebrate the Christmas season with some relief.
Agenda Anchored on Improving Citizen Welfare
In his address, Enwerem elaborated on the philosophy behind the administration's plan. He asserted that the Renewed Hope Agenda is firmly anchored on the principle that political leadership must prioritize the people.
"It recognises that true governance is not measured only by policies and statistics, but by how those policies translate into relief, dignity, and improved living conditions for ordinary citizens," Enwerem said. He emphasized that the day's food distribution was a direct reflection of President Tinubu's commitment to this ideal.
He acknowledged that food security remains a major national challenge and explained that the group's intervention was a direct response to this pressing issue. "This distribution is therefore a symbol of care and responsiveness. It is the modest contribution of Mr President towards putting food on the tables of Enugu people during this festival season," he added.
Long-Term Vision for Southeast Development
Beyond immediate relief, the SERHA coordinator highlighted the group's alignment with broader developmental goals. He expressed gratitude for the President's establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), which is expected to drive massive infrastructure and economic projects in the region.
"Our vision aligns with the broader Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to restore confidence in governance, promote economic empowerment, and uplift the welfare of citizens across all strata of society," Enwerem stated.
He urged beneficiaries to use the food items judiciously for their families. Looking ahead, Enwerem promised that SERHA would continue collaborating with institutions to design programs addressing both immediate needs and long-term development priorities for the southeast.
He concluded with a call for unity and patience, expressing belief that with collective effort, a future of shared prosperity is achievable.
