Group Faults Senator Wadada Over Remarks Against Aspirant

A political pressure group, the Nasarawa United Forum (NUF), has condemned Senator Aliyu Wadada for comments allegedly made against fellow governorship aspirant and former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu. The group described the conduct as inappropriate and divisive.

Group Accuses Senator of Unnecessary Attacks

In a statement issued on Thursday by its Coordinator, Abdulaziz Abba, the forum accused the senator of resorting to personal attacks instead of engaging in issue-based politics ahead of the governorship race in Nasarawa State. According to NUF, Wadada’s remarks during a television interview on Wednesday amounted to an unnecessary assault on another aspirant and did not reflect the decorum expected from leaders seeking public office.

Abba emphasized that the organization considered it necessary to respond, stressing that silence in the face of unfair attacks would amount to failing the people of the state. The forum particularly took exception to comments relating to security in Nasarawa State, warning that such matters should not be trivialized for political advantage.

Security Concerns Must Not Be Politicized

The statement noted that insecurity remains a sensitive challenge capable of discouraging investment, slowing economic growth, and disrupting livelihoods, especially in a state strategically located near the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. NUF maintained that any attempt to downplay security concerns was misguided, insisting that safety of lives and property must remain a priority for all political actors.

The group urged governorship aspirants to focus on programs and ideas capable of advancing the state rather than personal attacks and inflammatory rhetoric. It also called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress in Nasarawa State to caution members against actions that could deepen divisions ahead of the party’s primary election.

NUF added that it would continue to speak out against what it described as unjust attacks on any aspirant, regardless of political alignment.
