Suspected terrorists have killed a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and three other individuals in a fresh attack along the Jikamshi–Funtua road in Katsina State. The victims were ambushed and shot dead by armed bandits on Monday evening, May 4, 2026, while traveling along the notorious highway.
Victims Identified
The corps member, identified as Saidu Nasir and also known as Saidu Liman or Kalipha, was reportedly on his way to complete his monthly NYSC thumbprint verification when the attackers struck. His lifeless body, riddled with gunshot wounds, was returned to his family.
Security Analyst Confirms Incident
Confirming the incident on Tuesday, security analyst Bakatsine described Saidu as a young man committed to his education and national service. He lamented that the killing underscores the worsening insecurity affecting civilians across the region. The tragic loss has thrown his family, friends, and classmates into deep mourning.
The attack highlights the ongoing security challenges in Katsina State, where banditry and terrorism continue to claim innocent lives. Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the incident.
