2027 Elections: Two Predictions About Peter Obi That Have Come True
2 Predictions About Peter Obi for 2027 That Came True

Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, officially left the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) on Monday, May 4. This move had been predicted by political opponents, with two key projections now realized as Nigeria gears up for the 2027 presidential elections.

Obi's Departure from ADC Confirms Earlier Predictions

When Obi was with the Labour Party, internal strife erupted after the 2023 elections. However, he remained aloof from resolving the crisis. Instead, he aligned with a coalition led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, which later adopted the ADC as its platform to challenge President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027. Atiku united major opposition figures, including Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former Kano governor and 2023 NNPP candidate. Their alliance was seen as a threat to Tinubu's re-election. Yet, on Monday, Obi and Kwankwaso left the ADC, a move anticipated by Daniel Bwala and Ayodele Fayose.

Daniel Bwala's Prediction

Bwala, President Tinubu's legal adviser on public communication, earlier stated that Obi would not contest the 2027 election under the Labour Party or ADC banners. He made this claim while Obi was still with Labour Party and discussions about joining the ADC were ongoing. Bwala's forecast came true when Obi officially joined the NDC.

Ayodele Fayose's Prediction

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose had warned that if Obi left the coalition, the movement would collapse. Hours after Obi's defection, many supporters shifted focus to the NDC. Additionally, Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC's spokesperson, admitted in an interview that Obi's departure was a setback, confirming Fayose's prediction.

These developments underscore the shifting political landscape as the 2027 elections approach, with Obi's move potentially reshaping opposition strategies.
