Zamfara ADC Endorses Court Ruling on Party Leadership
Zamfara ADC Backs Court Ruling on Leadership

The Zamfara State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has commended the Federal High Court in Abuja for its judgment on the party's leadership dispute. In a statement by the State Publicity Secretary, Comrade Abdulkareem Umar, the court issued a landmark ruling that restrains the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing or participating in any congresses organized by any purported caretaker or interim leadership of the party.

Court Restrains Factional Activities

The court also barred the faction led by David Mark and others from interfering with the functions, tenure, and constitutional responsibilities of duly elected state executive committees of the ADC across the federation. The judgment emphasized that only constitutionally elected state executive committees have the lawful authority to organize congresses, and their tenure remains valid until proper congresses are held in line with the party's constitution.

Reaffirmation of Leadership

In light of this clear judgment, Kabiru Garba Gusau, Chairman of the ADC in Zamfara State, reaffirmed that he remains the duly recognized and substantive Chairman, having emerged through a valid and constitutionally recognized process. He stated that the existing State Executive Committee of the party in Zamfara State remains intact, legitimate, and fully operational as per the court's pronouncement.

Gusau warned that any individual or group parading themselves as leaders, caretakers, or representatives of the ADC in Zamfara State outside the recognized structure is acting illegally and without lawful authority. Consequently, the general public, political stakeholders, party members, and relevant institutions are advised not to transact any business with any person or group claiming to represent the ADC in Zamfara State outside the duly recognized leadership.

Legal Implications

He noted that any such dealings are null, void, and of no legal consequence. All official engagements, communications, and party-related matters should be channeled through the legitimate State Executive Committee under his leadership. Gusau described the judgment as a victory for internal party democracy, constitutional order, and the rule of law, reinforcing the principle that political parties must operate strictly within their constitutions and the laws of Nigeria.

He urged all party members in Zamfara State and beyond to remain calm, law-abiding, and committed to strengthening the party through unity, discipline, and respect. The ADC in Zamfara State remains focused, united, and committed to providing a credible political platform for the people.
