The 2027 general elections are taking shape in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the party has sold its presidential nomination forms to three aspirants. Political parties have closed the sale of forms for their candidates, and the ADC has confirmed payments from three prominent politicians.
Presidential Aspirants Secure ADC Tickets
Between Friday, May 8, and Saturday, May 9, at least three presidential aspirants purchased the ADC ticket to contest the 2027 general elections. The party announced the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms worth N90 million each.
Mohammed Hayatu-Deen First to Buy Form
Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, a prominent presidential aspirant, was the first to pick up the form. He pledged to address insecurity, job shortages, and the high cost of living. The form was handed over by the ADC National Organising Secretary, Prince Chinedu Idigo. In a statement on Friday, Hayatu-Deen said the elections should focus on restoring economic stability and security.
Rotimi Amaechi Joins the Race
Former Minister of Transportation and two-term Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, was the second aspirant to purchase the ADC presidential form. The party announced on social media that Amaechi’s form was picked by Chief John Oyegun, accompanied by former Environment Minister Mohammed Abdullahi, Senator Nura Abatemi, Hon. Asita, Ike Bishop Okoronkwo, and other stakeholders.
Atiku Abubakar Completes the Trio
On Saturday, the ADC confirmed receipt of N90 million from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar via bank transfer for his presidential form. The party issued a payment receipt to Atiku. He will now contest against Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen in the ADC primary.
The ADC has positioned itself as a coalition-adopted party for the 2027 elections, attracting high-profile candidates. The primaries will determine who flies the party’s flag in the general election.
