A political support group in Kano State, the Kano Governance Ambassadors (KGGA), has officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and House of Representatives member Abubakar Kabir Abubakar (Kabir Bichi) for the 2027 general elections. The endorsement was announced during a press conference held in Kano on Thursday, May 7, 2026.
Group Commends Leadership and Development
Speaking on behalf of the group, KGGA Chairman Aminu Abdullahi stated that the three leaders have demonstrated a strong commitment to governance and development. He emphasized that the group carefully studied their performances and concluded they represent the best hope for Kano State and Nigeria.
Abdullahi praised President Tinubu for his courage in handling Nigeria's economy, noting that his administration introduced key reforms in infrastructure, electricity, and social intervention programs under the Renewed Hope Agenda. Despite global economic challenges, Tinubu's commitment to reforming the country remains unwavering, Abdullahi added.
Governor Yusuf's Achievements Highlighted
The group also lauded Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment since taking office in 2023. According to KGGA, the Kano State government has improved access to basic education, expanded rural road projects, and upgraded water supply across multiple local government areas. Abdullahi noted that new classrooms have been built, hospitals renovated, and youths empowered across all 44 local governments.
Lawmaker Bichi Recognized for Constituency Projects
Regarding Hon. Kabir Bichi, the group commended his constituency projects and legislative role as Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations. They highlighted that Bichi has facilitated development projects and empowerment programs, providing thousands of youths with skills training and startup capital.
Plans for Statewide Campaign
KGGA announced it will begin a statewide sensitization campaign to mobilize support for the endorsed candidates ahead of the 2027 elections. The group called on Kano residents, including youths, traders, and community leaders, to back the candidates, arguing that continuity in governance will sustain ongoing development projects.
In a related development, thousands of residents in the Eti-Osa area of Lagos gathered over the weekend to declare support for President Tinubu, Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, and state lawmaker Noheem Adams for the 2027 elections. The rally, organized by leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Eti-Osa Constituency I, included party officials, traditional rulers, residents' associations, and supporters. Among those present were members of the APC Central Working Committee in Eti-Osa, local government chairmen, ward leaders, and representatives of the Lekki Estates Residents and Stakeholders Association (LERSA).
