Eligible voters across Lau local government council have unanimously declared their support for Governor Agbu Kefas and the member representing the council in the Taraba State House of Assembly, Nuhu Akila Rantiyo, ahead of a possible second term in office. The collective endorsement was made at the weekend in Jalingo, the state capital, during a meeting of stakeholders and voters from the area.
Basis of Endorsement
Speaking on behalf of the voters, Kabiru Mohammud said the endorsement was not influenced by sentiment, personal interest or political convenience, but was based on visible leadership, purposeful representation and developmental achievements recorded across Lau local government and Taraba state. According to him, extensive consultations and careful assessment of the political situation informed their decision to support the continuation of Governor Kefas and Hon. Rantiyo's leadership.
“We collectively resolved to stand firmly behind the continuity of Governor Agbu Kefas and Honourable Nuhu Akila Rantiyo whose leadership continues to inspire hope, unity, development and inclusive governance across the state,” he said.
Mobilization for Support
Mohammud explained that the electorates, whom he described as representing the majority voting strength in the area, were prepared to mobilise massive support and votes for both leaders in recognition of their efforts in youth employment, infrastructural development, community engagement, peace and good governance. He also dismissed allegations by some individuals claiming that the lawmaker representing the constituency had not executed meaningful projects or lacked the support of the people.
“We consider such statements as baseless political blackmail intended to undermine visible achievements,” he stated.
Commendation for Leadership
The voters' leader further commended Governor Kefas for what he described as visionary leadership through policies and programmes centred on peace building, education, economic growth, infrastructural development and social progress in the state. He added that Rantiyo had distinguished himself through responsive representation, empowerment initiatives and developmental projects aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
“We make it unequivocally clear that the people and youths of Lau local government constituency remain solidly behind Governor Agbu Kefas and Hon. Nuhu Akila Rantiyo,” Mohammud added.
