The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction led by Tanimu Turaki, with backing from Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and the David Mark-led leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have announced plans to field a single presidential candidate in the 2027 general elections.
The resolution was adopted at the national summit of opposition political party leaders held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Saturday, April 25.
This development comes amid ongoing leadership crises within both the PDP and ADC, with multiple factions claiming legitimacy. The Supreme Court earlier this week reserved judgment on the parties' internal disputes.
The move is seen as an effort to unite opposition forces ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
