Intervention Projects Bridge Gap Between Government and Citizens

First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has stated that intervention and constituency projects are essential instruments for narrowing the divide between the government and citizens across Nigeria. She made this remark on Tuesday in Abuja during the launch of a compendium titled “Actualising President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda Through the Implementation of Zonal Intervention and Constituency Projects.”

The event, organized by the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, aimed to showcase intervention initiatives while enhancing transparency, accountability, and public awareness of government development programs. Represented by the Wife of the Vice-President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, Tinubu described the occasion as a milestone in promoting accountability, effective service delivery, and responsible project implementation.

She emphasized that such projects are tangible expressions of democratic governance and inclusive development, ensuring that government interventions effectively address the needs and aspirations of communities nationwide. “Intervention projects play a vital role in bringing development closer to the people by addressing local challenges and improving access to essential services,” she said.

Reflecting on her tenure in the 7th, 8th, and 9th National Assemblies, Tinubu noted that her experience enabled her to support legislation and constituency interventions that positively impacted citizens. She added that her time as a senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District reinforced her conviction that constituency-based initiatives are effective tools for meeting local needs and improving livelihoods.

The First Lady highlighted that the 560-page publication, comprising nine chapters, is the first comprehensive public report documenting intervention projects implemented across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones and constituencies. She stated that the compendium would enhance transparency and accountability, provide a verifiable reference document, and increase public awareness of projects executed under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The compendium being unveiled today is a reflection of policy implementation, institutional collaboration, and the Renewed Hope Agenda. It captures ongoing efforts to translate vision into measurable outcomes,” she said. Tinubu commended the ministry for documenting and consolidating intervention projects, describing the initiative as timely and commendable.

She also applauded the ministry for deploying a digital application to track, monitor, and evaluate intervention and constituency projects in real time across the country. Tinubu urged legislators, development partners, and implementing agencies to strengthen collaboration, ensure due diligence, and uphold transparency and accountability in project execution.

Earlier, the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Hon. Zephaniah Jisalo, noted that the ministry had adopted modern technology to enhance monitoring and evaluation of projects. He said the initiative aims to ensure effective implementation of intervention projects and support the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The compendium, he added, reflects the ministry’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and evidence-based reporting.

The unveiling ceremony drew stakeholders from government institutions, development organizations, and other sectors committed to advancing national development and good governance.
