New Exco Inaugurated in Ogun Community, Promises Projects

A new executive committee of the Sabo Stayte Association, a community-driven organization comprising over 3,000 youths, has been inaugurated in the Sabo community located in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State. The association focuses on education, health, and infrastructural development, aiming to transform the community and improve the living conditions of its residents.

New Chairman Outlines Vision

During the inauguration ceremony held yesterday, the newly elected Chairman, Amb. Habeeb Whyte, announced that his administration would embark on people-oriented projects, including the provision of borehole water for inhabitants. Whyte emphasized that his leadership would bridge the gap between the youth and elders in the community, highlighting that the association has already sponsored 50 students for external examinations.

"We have taken this responsibility with all our heart. We promise that we will build a better and well-refined community where the youth and the elderly will live together harmoniously," Whyte said. He added, "My administration has promised four boreholes for the community, and three are already in progress. We have paid JAMB fees for 20 students and made provisions for WAEC fees for another 20 students this year. One of our sponsors has also pledged to cover WAEC fees for 10 students."

Whyte further stated, "This community is the one people termed as 'less privileged' in Ogun State, but we thank Allah we are now privileged. Among us, we already have Assembly aspirants, lawyers, and doctors. We are not beggars; we are professionals working. We want to bring our own money to develop this community."

Health Programs and Secretariat

The chairman revealed that plans are underway to partner with international organizations to host a health sensitization program for residents, including free medical checks and eye care services. For the first time, the association has established a functional secretariat to serve as a hub for executive operations and community engagement. With over 3,000 youths and 65 Community Development Associations (CDAs) under the Sabo Stayte umbrella, Whyte's mission is to change the community's reputation.

Support from Dignitaries

Also speaking at the event, the Personal Assistant on Special Duties to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by his aide Olori Habeebat Bankole, described the new Chairman as a man of "serious capacity." Bankole said, "You have picked a man that has the capacity to do the work. I can attest that by this time next year, there will be several achievements. He has always been very passionate about Sabo."

Earlier, leaders including Hon. Wale Bello and the association's Matron, Alhaja Muibat Ibrahim, offered strategic advice to ensure the administration's success.
