The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) is currently hosting a conference to examine how brands and marketers can better understand consumer behaviour, strengthen relationships with audiences, and adapt to evolving market trends. Speaking to journalists in Lagos, NIMN President Bolajoko Bayo-Ajayi announced that the three-day event is expected to draw marketing professionals, students, corporate executives, and academics from across the country.
Conference Theme and Focus
Themed 'Community, Culture & Connection: Re-imagining the New Market,' the conference aims to gather the brightest minds in Nigeria to share practical experiences, not just theoretical knowledge. Bayo-Ajayi emphasized that NIMN is positioning itself as the engine room of value creation for the Nigerian economy.
Three Critical Pillars
She outlined three critical pillars guiding the conference: community, which treats consumers as active co-creators; culture, which prioritizes authentic local expressions over imported models; and connection, which builds human and technological bridges for long-term loyalty. 'We are moving beyond chasing reach alone to focus on these three pillars,' she stated. 'By bringing experience and innovation together in Port Harcourt, we are ensuring that our discussions are as practical as they are visionary.'
Key Highlights
A major highlight of the event will be the induction of qualified candidates into Associate and Fellow status. Additionally, the opening day features a Students Conference themed 'From Classroom to Marketplace,' designed to bridge the gap for emerging talent by connecting students directly with industry practitioners. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academic Pan Atlantic University, Prof. Uchenna Uzo, is expected to deliver the keynote address.
Event Details
The conference is scheduled to take place from June 18 to 20, 2026, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
