Dr. Mohammed Goje, the former Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), has officially assumed office as the acting Secretary to the State Government (SSG). His assumption of duty is aimed at sustaining the delivery of public services to the people across the state.
The formal assumption followed a ceremonial handing-over ceremony conducted on Tuesday in Damaturu, the state capital, at the SSG conference hall within the Governor's office. The event was attended by the Commissioners for Health and Human Services and the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, marking a significant and smooth administrative transition in public service delivery.
Alhaji Madu, the Permanent Secretary of Administration and General Services, handed over to Dr. Mohammed Goje and pledged the full cooperation of all management and staff in supporting the new SSG. He emphasized prioritizing health, education, agriculture, environment, and transport sectors to boost the state's local economy.
Accepting his new role, Goje expressed deep appreciation to Governor Mai Mala Buni for the trust reposed in him. He described the appointment as both an honor and a call to higher service delivery to members of the public living in rural and urban centers of the state.
Goje characterized the SSG's office as the engine room of governance and committed to strengthening coordination among Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). He vowed to enhance accountability and transparency to ensure policies and programs yield productive and tangible results in critical sectors of the economy.
He acknowledged the administration's achievements in security, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and agriculture, pledging to build on these gains through what he termed as improved efficiency and service delivery to the people. Goje also paid glowing tribute to his predecessor, Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali, for his distinguished services across the state.
Stakeholders present at the handing-over ceremony expressed confidence that the new SSG would bring renewed energy, discipline, and strategic direction to inclusive governance at both state and council levels. The ceremony was also attended by the Special Adviser on Security, Permanent Secretaries, senior government officials, and associates of the new SSG.
