The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement (OK Movement) has officially declared its support for the presidential ambition of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, urging Nigerians to rally behind what it described as a vision for a united, corruption-free, and productive nation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This declaration was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the group’s summit held in Enugu on Wednesday, where members outlined key resolutions aimed at driving political mobilisation in the Southeast and beyond. The movement stated its commitment to “practically championing” the ideals of the Obi–Kwankwaso alliance, which it noted centres on inclusiveness and equal opportunity, where “the son of a nobody can rise to become somebody without knowing anybody.”
Promoting National Unity and Social Justice
Addressing Nigeria’s diversity, the group emphasised the need to promote peace, harmony, social justice, and respect for human rights across the country’s over 300 ethnic nationalities. It stressed that national unity must be built on equity and mutual respect among citizens.
The communiqué further expressed confidence that an administration led by the duo would prioritise transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public resources. It added that such a government would focus on production-driven policies, quality education, improved healthcare delivery, and human capital development.
Grassroots Mobilisation Strategy
As part of its political strategy, the movement directed its coordinators at state, local government, ward, and polling unit levels to commence aggressive grassroots sensitisation and membership mobilisation under the Nigeria Democratic Party (NDC), particularly across the Southeast. The group said the mobilisation campaign would educate citizens on the need to support the Obi–Kwankwaso presidential ticket in the 2027 election.
Reaffirming its optimism, the OK Movement declared that “with OBI-Kwankwasiya, a new Nigeria is possible in 2027.” The communiqué was jointly signed by the Southeast Zonal Director-General, El-Shaddai Ikeh; National Legal Adviser and Southeast leader, Okere Kingdom Nnamdi; and state coordinators from Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Abia, and Ebonyi states.
